Discount retailer Big Lots has signed a deal to open its 10th location in the Triangle at the North/South Station shopping center.
Big Lots will take 33,000 square feet left vacant when Wal-Mart moved into its new, bigger location at the Shoppes at Garner shopping center in 2008.
The new Big Lots is expected to open in the summer, says Charlie Coyne, vice president of retail services for CB Richard Ellis in Raleigh, which is in charge of leasing for the North/South Station shopping center.
Big Lots has three other stores in Raleigh, one store in Cary, two in Durham, one in Selma, one in Sanford and one in Dunn.
Other new North/South Station retailers that leased a combined 3,200 square feet in recent months include CosmoProf, a division of Sally Beauty, and Blake’s Barber & Beauty Salon, owned by Lamont Blaylock.
North/South Station is a regional shopping center located at the crossroads of South Wilmington Street, U.S. 70, and N.C. 401. Its anchor tenant is a Hudson Belk department store.
The property is owned by an affiliate of BPG Properties of Philadelphia, Pa.
