Garner Police are seeking assistance from residents in preventing theft from unlocked cars within the town. Since the evening of June 23rd, twenty four (24) unlocked vehicles have been entered in neighborhoods throughout Garner. "There is no current pattern of location to predict where it is likely to be repeated," says Lt. Chris Hagwood of the department's Criminal Investigations Division.

GPS devices have traditionally been one of the most commonly stolen items from vehicles. However, in recent thefts GPS devices or other valuables have been left untouched. The motive for the crime is unclear.

Residents are urged to remove valuables, lock their car doors, and report anyone seen in their neighborhoods behaving suspiciously.

Anyone with information about this or any other crime is urged to contact the Garner Police at 919-772-8810. Persons with information can remain anonymous and can leave a message at 919-226-2746.
