A Garner Summer Bucket List
With school out and the temps quickly rising, the summer has officially arrived. You may be pulling out the calendars to plan a great season, but we have some ideas that are right here in Garner!
Take a look at A Garner Summer Bucket List:
- Go for a swim at the Garner Swim and Recreation Club - This pool is a Garner summer staple! Take the family on a trip to the pool, sign your kid up for the Dolphin Swim Team, or rent the pool for your next summer event.
- Grab a smoothie from Plant Slant - Need to cool down from the NC heat? What a better way than getting a Plant Slant smoothie or juice that also gives you some extra nutrients for your day?! Bonus if you snag a drink and take it on a stroll to one of the nearby trails at Lake Benson or White Deer Park.
- Visit a Garner Park - Garner has beautiful parks all over town with a wide variety of things to do. Gather some friends for a tennis match, take the kids to some amazing playgrounds, or just pack a family picnic. There are so many ways to enjoy our parks.
- See a movie at Garner Family Flicks - Our friends at The Town of Garner are hosting viewings of some new, family movies! Load up the whole family and head to the Garner Recreation Center lawn downtown to enjoy a Friday evening.
- Rent a Kayak at the Lake Benson Boat House - Enjoy nature and being outside? Head over the Lake Benson Boat House throughout the season to rent a kayak or a Jon boat. Garner has some wonderful wildlife that enjoys the lake during the summer! What will you see?
- Attend a Garner Performing Arts Center performance - GPAC has a great lineup of performances throughout the season. Catch a show during the summer in this historical building that host musicals to live music!
- Grab a drink from Sodabox - One of our newest members can help beat the heat this summer! Grab a mix and match soda or a special Sodabox creation to keep the summer vibes rolling with the whole family.
- Go to the Annual Independence Day Celebration - The quintessential Garner summer can't be complete without this event. People flock across the triangle to eat with the amazing food vendors, listen to the NC Symphony, and watch a spectacular fireworks show. Grab your picnic blanket and your best red, white, and blue attire and we'll see you on the lawn at Lake Benson!
- Shop at a local, small business - Check out our Business Directory to find the right small business for you. Supporting local, small business is supporting a fellow citizen of this amazing town! We have members that sell desserts to retail and B&Bs to IT. There's someone here for you to support this season!
- Explore Downtown Garner - Our downtown is booming with life! Take a stroll on Main Street Garner and see the beautiful murals, the caboose at the history museum, and check out the wonderful shops!
